6 Days Post-Surgery
The pathology report is in.
It is as suspected - a Glioblastoma Grade 4 - Alas, this is a high grade and aggressive type of tumour.
A journey of radiation and chemotherapy lies ahead of us.
First consultation with the Oncologist is booked for next week.
One is reminded of the randomness of life. It is the same infinite permutations of chance in the universe that surprises us with both the best moments of our lives and the worst.

Why a blog?

| Lilium tigrinum also known as "The Tiger Lily" |
The past 2 weeks have been emotionally and physically arduous for my mom and for us but as anyone who knows my mom will attest, she is one brave, amazing lady. It was a great benefit to be able to prepare and do this in an intimate and emotionally unpressured manner.
We fully understand that concerned friends and family would like to visit, phone and personally offer support. This is not advised right now. I urge you not to keep calling directly on her phone. She cannot take your calls.
Whilst we appreciate that you all care, we must ask for restraint.
Please stay where you are and please respect that the immediate need is to allow mom time to heal and to spend time with her immediate family and loved ones in a quiet, nuturing and peaceful coccoon. This is her specific request to you all.
I am sure you will all agree with me that what is NOT needed is for each of us to indulge our own emotional hysteria, fear and need for reassurance. I ask you to think of what is best for her.
Naturally, we appreciate your love and that you would like to be kept updated.
It is exceedingly difficult for me to update everyone individually or to respond to every SMS and email without missing someone out & risking offending them - not an added stress one needs.
Hence the reason for setting up a blog where you can receive updates on the situation and share your love and support in a way thats conducive to the recovery process.
We thank you for your support and understanding.

A parting thought : ...It is not that one only gets what one can handle... It is that one handles what one gets because thats how it is.
